Martinique to Grenada, down the Grenadines
Bequia, Mustique, Tobago Cays, Carriacou · 161 nm · 7 days · one night passage
Board at Le Marin on the Saturday evening, provision, and shake down along Martinique's west coast. Then an overnight passage south to Bequia — the one night sail of the trip and a good one: broad reach, warm, phosphorescence off the transom.
Admiralty Bay, Mustique, Canouan, then the Tobago Cays: a horseshoe reef with nothing behind it but open Atlantic, turtles on the inside, and the best snorkelling in the eastern Caribbean. Out through Mayreau and Union, then Carriacou and down to Grenada.
The longest leg in days and the shortest in miles — 23 nautical miles a day, with the trades abaft the beam nine days in ten. One thing to know going in: Easter Sunday falls on 28 March, the second day, and Easter week is when Bequia and the Tobago Cays are at their fullest of the year.
What it is — the classic Caribbean postcard leg, the easiest sailing of the route, and the only night passage going south.
